Jamie is a qualified midwife with experience across a range of maternity settings, including obstetric, community and birth centre. Alongside clinical practice she worked as a research midwife and has published and presented nationally and internationally on the education of midwives in relation to female genital mutilation (FGM).
As a national Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead Midwife in Wales, Jamie works with Health Boards and key stakeholders to support the implementation of the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan and improve equity within maternity and neonatal services. She also established the Wales Inclusive Maternity Network with RCM Cymru, supporting midwives, student midwives and maternity support workers from the Global Majority.
Jamie considers it a privilege to serve as a Trustee of the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust. She is passionate about creating equitable opportunities for midwives to learn, develop and lead, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds and values the Trust’s role in supporting professional development that ultimately improves care for everyone using maternity and neonatal services.
