2026 AWARD APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Here is our quick guide to our Awards, which will open again to applications on Dec 1st, 2026. You will find the list of current awards, with downloadable guidance for each one, as well as links to their online application forms. There are specific eligibility criteria for some Awards, so do check.

Before you apply, please make sure you:

  • read the full information about the award
  • check you are eligible for the award
  • have not won an individual Iolanthe award in the previous two years *
  • apply for one award only **
  • read the relevant application guidance and follow its advice
  • read our Privacy Policy about what we do with the information you give us

Please also note:

  • The Trust is open to a request from an applicant who wishes to apply in an alternative format to the online form, for example by video/audio recording; however please contact us first
  • If you do use AI to help you draft your application, please make sure it’s a realistic and honest reflection of your proposal. When you apply to us we want to learn about you and what you want to do. The writing style or grammar doesn’t matter to us.  What we are interested in is what you’re trying to achieve and how you’re going to do it

  • Trustees reserve the right to exercise their discretion to reallocate applications to better fitting award categories
  • The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust is an NIHR RDN Non-commercial Partner. This means the studies that we fund may be eligible to access the NIHR Study Support Service which is provided by the NIHR Research Delivery Network within the NHS, and the wider public health and social care environment, across England.

If you have any questions or concerns that are preventing you from filling out your application, please contact us with any questions. We will be glad to help you.

* If you received an individual Iolanthe Award, you must wait two years before applying again. For example, a 2025 Award winner could next apply for a 2027 Award. The Jean Davies Award is the only Iolanthe Award that may be applied for by a team and is therefore the exception, with no specific time needing to pass before a previous individual winner is part of a team applying for the Jean Davies Award. Likewise, a previous team recipient may also apply at any time for an individual award.

** unless you are applying for a Midwives or Student Award, and are eligible and wish to apply for a Dora Opoku Award.
