The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust is a registered charity that aims to promote and improve the care of birthing women, people , babies and families by awarding grants and fellowships in support of midwifery education, practice and research.
In order for midwives and student midwives to offer the very best care, they need to develop innovative practice, progress their professional education and conduct research. This is made possible through the vital work we do. For so many midwives and student midwives, the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust has transformed their lives, supporting them in achieving their dreams and aspirations. In over 30 years, the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust has helped more than 400 midwives develop and broaden their skills and knowledge through bursaries, fellowships and special awards.
Each year the Trust invites applications for a number of awards. The awards round opens on 1 December and closes at 5pm on 1 February. Marking takes place from 2 February through to 30 April. The public announcement of the award winners is made on the first Thursday in June and in October we host the annual awards event to celebrate the winners and their work.
Iolanthe has an endowment fund which provides some of the income needed each year to fund awards, but we also rely on donations and fundraising to extend our reach and support as many midwives and student midwives as possible.
