Susha Chandrasekhar is a consultant and former lawyer who spent a large part of her career in the Civil Service where she advised Cabinet Ministers and officials on complex situations with national and international impact. She has also been a lawyer at an international law firm and at a national healthcare regulator, as well as working for a WTO judge, a Prime Minister of Italy and a Law Commissioner. A former Visiting Lecturer at the London School of Economics, Susha’s work has been published by Oxford University Press amongst others. In addition, she has been a business writer and a full-time carer.
The inspiration for Susha to join Iolanthe was her own experience of becoming a mother. She has significant board expertise having been Chair of a professional body and trustee of national charities relating to healthcare, equality and children. She has also undertaken considerable non-board volunteering internationally in these fields.
Susha is a graduate of Cambridge, Oxford and London Universities. Fluent in several languages and having lived in nine countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, she is aware of the importance of cultural sensitivity. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
