Run the London Marathon live event for Iolanthe Midwifery Trust on Sunday 3 October 2021!
This year sees a welcome return to the annual live event which will take place on October 3rd.
Due to one of our team needing to pull out, Iolanthe currently has just one ‘real’ London Marathon place available which needs to be filled and registered by 20th August. With only 8 weeks to go, it's suitable for someone who is already almost 'match fit'. Participants are asked to pledge to collect £1,400 in fundraising.
A marathon can be a rollercoaster of emotions, both during training and on race day. This makes the feeling of success when you reach the finish line like nothing you’ve experienced before. It's a chance to prove to yourself you can tackle anything if you put your mind to it! Previous Iolanthe participants say that running for something that's 'bigger than you' makes your training even more meaningful. In the words of 2019 Iolanthe London Marathon runner, Ann Stapleton,
To do this whilst giving something back is worth the 5 am training starts. Midwives do an absolutely fantastic job in a difficult profession. Let's support them as much as we can.
Alongside personal reward, Iolanthe runners have the satisfaction of knowing their achievement improves maternal experiences and outcomes for babies and their families, when they most need it.
If you don't feel up to running the live marathon there are some other ways to join in:
Alternatively, you could support Iolanthe with your 2021 ballot place. If you've been awarded a ballot place, you can set up a Virgin Money Giving page for Iolanthe here!
